Spirituality (Tasawwuf)
This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the science of Spirituality (Tasawwuf), considered to be the core of the Islamic religion. It will introduce students to topics such as purification of the heart, virtues of repentance, spiritual closeness to Allah Almighty, God-consciousness and more. The course will utilise both a theoretical and practical approach, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of the key aspects of the science, and assisting in spiritual elevation and refinement of the soul.

The Certificate courses are based on the Diploma programme. Students study one or more of our subjects as individual courses, choosing from Quranic Recitation (Tajwid), Islamic Creed (Aqidah), Islamic Law (Fiqh), Portrait of the Prophet (Shamail) and Spirituality (Tasawwuf). When the course is successfully completed, they achieve a certificate. Each session is an hour long and these run at various locations for 30 weeks over the academic year.

Ustadha Safina Fatima has been studying the sacred knowledge under the guidance of influential scholar Shaykha Safia Shahid for many years. She began her studies in Tajwid and Fiqh, covering texts such as Nur Al Idah, Arabic grammar and others. She also attended other notable classes of Shaykha including the Shamail of Imam Al-Tirmidhi. She progressed to the scholarship course in 2013 with Shaykha Safia Shahid, and continues to further her studies in the traditional sciences. Ustadha Safina Fatima has been teaching at the Jamatia Islamic Centre since 2010. In 2017, she began teaching at Women’s Muslim College after its launch covering the Diploma in Islamic Sciences programme.
